LAS VEGAS STUDY TRIP- DAY 1

Friday's lecture finally ended at like 5pm and so I met jw and both of us went over to my place to chill. While I did some last minute packing, he went to sleep. I WALKED over to my grandma’s house and WALKED back home to collect the dishes for dinner and WALKED to Holland v to get a cake for my godma's birthday and WALKED all the way back home again. How wonderful, so much walking the day before I leave Singapore.

So, at like 10pm we WALKED to my grandma's house to give my godma her cake and ate more food there. Then we took the train to Changi Airport. I guess it was so not my day cuz nothing went right. When we alighted at Tanah Merah to change train, the stupid person announced that the last train to Changi Airport had already left. Omg. I so wanted to kill myself. Luckily there was this other guy wanting to go to the airport too so we shared a cab and I had to pay like $5.

Yes, I was THAT early. Haha. So much for using that board to teach the pri sch kids. Now my flight is actually there! 6am: NW6.

So we went to Popeye's for fries. Then we decided to head to Terminal 2 to chill at Macs by taking the Sky Train. We chilled till like 3.30am with him entertaining me by showing me all his Bali pics then I had to go back to Terminal 1 to meet the rest of the people at 4am.

When we went to the Sky Train- it was freaking closed for maintenance until 6am!! OMG. Had no choice but to take a cab from T2 to T1 which cost me a whooping $8++. !#($&#)$*@#!

Then, we checked in our luggage and got our tix. Yayness. But the security checks to USA were like super strict. They asked us SO many qns and looked thru our hand carry bags thoroughly. I even had to switch on my lappy to verify that it was indeed a lappy and not some bomb or something :S

IATA, ETKT. So much TMGT stuff. Heh.

The 10 that went. Yi Juan, Karen, Harris, Kim, Ying Ying, Linda, Hui Fang, Mathiaus, Pearl & Yvonne.

While going thru the metal detectors, omg I was asked to remove my boots! Gah. And they put that thru the x-ray scanner with my bag too!

And I was wearing my stupid necklace (bad idea to dress up when taking planes) and the metal detector beeped. Omg. The stupid lady touched my from head to toe like I was being molested. Wth. Where in the world are those metal sticks they use?!

Yes, super strict I tell you. So troublesome. So the first flight from SIN to NRT was like 7hrs50mins and it was kinda boring.

Ate, slept, watch a little movie. But we were lucky to have the Airbus 300 cuz we had like personalized tv sets. Oh, we're taking NorthWest Airlines.

The transfer at NRT was like super fast. We went down the plane, and off we went to the gate to board the next plane. But, we still managed to snap pics!

Yes, we had to check the board again to know which gate we were supposed to go to.

We asked a passerby to take this pic for us. And he didn't take the most impt thing! It reads: Welcome to Japan!

I was like the only one that spotted that. I was like 'omg! look!! so cool!' And Karen and the rest went like 'huh. what. what's cool?' 'the HUGE NARITA sign la duh!' 'huh. ooohhhhhh!! COOL. take pic take pic.' LOL. It was like quite far away. I had to zoom in like nobody's business.

Omg. So NICE!!!!! I took this pic. Yayness.

This time round we boarded a Boeing747. Fine, not as new as Airbus but to our horror, there was only 1 big screen tv in front and no entertainment at our seats!! Only radio. And this flight was like 9hrs20mins!! OMG.

But they made sure we were well fed (:
Okay, that big orange thing you see on the left bottom corner was this HUGE marshmellow burger given to me by jw! Hahaha. Like the biggest ever. Its like no fat, but 1000+ calories?! Madness. It tasted nice though. And how stupid, I actually forgot to snap a pic of it!

There was like FREE entertainment for us in the end! There were like china guys sitting behind our row.. and one of them got caught for smoking 3 times in the toilet! Totally wth. So the steward came over to ask him to surrender his boarding pass and passport but he couldn’t understand a single word of chink and the china guy couldn’t understand a single word of English! So the whole conversation was getting nowhere. And then Ms YJ volunteered to be the translator :P Her Chinese wasn’t THAT good so, hf, me and ying ying contributed a little too (: It was like freaking serious. They passed the matter to the pilots in the cockpit and then they passed it to the police in LA. He was like gonna get arrested and he was told that he couldn’t leave the plane when it touched down in LA.

Interesting stuff. So when we finally reached, 2 macho LA cops came over and brought him away. Hey, the cops were so cute la! (:

YAY!!!! LA! We had more transfer time there. Oh, we had to go thru customs there cuz it was the final international flight. Had to claim our baggage too. Thats not the point. Point is, the guy that served us at the counter was super friendly and funny! Usually, its like individuals going thru the counter, but he called Karen, HF and I to go tgt. Haha. He also spoke whatever little Chinese he knew to us.

Spent some time at the gift shop.

It might not seem huge here, but I tell you its the BIGGEST Hershey's bar I've ever seen!

Look how much stuff we were carrying. Super troublesome to go thru security checks ALL OVER AGAIN.

There was like time for us to slack around and we didn't wanna eat cuz we were already so full from all the plane food. So, we slacked around the window area waiting for our plane to arrive.

Finally, the last flight from LAX to LAS. First time taking a domestic flight. Was an airbus but it was really tiny. Anws, it was good cuz the plane had very little pax and we all sat on window seats which means LOADS of sky photos!! So so pretty (:

We were THAT close to the cockpit.

Crop circles, highways.. We were flying quite low I guess. OH I SEE STRATOSPHERE!!

After like 20 odd hrs, we FINALLY reached LAS!

The first thing we saw after getting off the plane. Yes, we were still at the airport. Still at the arrival area.

Sugar overload.

Gosh. I love those shoes.

Took an airport shuttle down to our hotel (hostel)- Las Vegas Paramount.

Limo’s were like abundant there I tell you. Black, white with tinted windows.

SO COOL LAH!

So, we sort of explored our little town and our hostel was located at the end of the Strip.

Not very nice... ...

What was located opposite our hotel. Yes, you didnt see wrongly. There's a 24hr drive thru wedding chapel.

So, we started walking around..

I FREEZE easily! Although you see sun, it wasnt HOT! It was COLD!

OMG and there was DENNY'S like EVERYWHERE!! I so love that restaurant. Eaten so many times there when I was staying in LA. So we sort of had that for our dinner (:

Did I tell you that I love Denny's?! (:

We did something naughty..

We caught ppl sleeping! :P Harris ain't counted.

Look at the FRIES!!! Super thick! I like. Unlike Singapore's. So skinny.
If you notice, there was a menu specially for the senior citizens!

We finished 'dinner' at like 5pm. OMG DID I MENTION THAT SUNSET WAS AT LIKE 4.45PM?! Mad.

So, we started walking down the Strip looking at the beautiful lights and night life when it was only evening time. Conquered only a tiny part! But there will still be more to come soon!

We spent a hell lot of time there. Not buying stuff.. But taking pics! The people there were so nice. You could snap pics in their shop like nobody's business and they didnt stop you.

Tell me if you could do that openly in Singapore.

Oh. Observation number 382473: Porn is abundant too. Not exactly porn lah.

Oh well, they have jobs for distributing flyers just like Singapore. But not normal flyers, those cards you see on the bottom right. They are scattered like everywhere on the streets. I brought 1 back, and JW took it :D :D :D
