My fishing trip post I wanted to do since the day after fishing. Hahaha. But I got tied up with work and all so I postponed it till now. Hmm.. Karen, Yi Juan, Janice, Yong Sin, Kenneth and I went fishing on a boat on tues (21/3/06).
I woke up at 4.30am!! First thing was to start cooking my 10 hard boiled eggs. The small pot I used could only hold 8 eggs and it was full already, so I had to do it twice. Showered, and my hair was wet. I had to look at the stove cuz I was afraid that the water would boil and spill out of the pot. So, I took my hairdryer into the kitchen and plugged it where the toaster was supposed to be. Haha. Multi-tasking (:
The eggs somehow cracked in the middle though. I guess it was the little space they had to move about. Last night mum told me that if you could pick the egg up with a pair of chopsticks, that means it’s fully cooked already. So that’s what I did, and I think by luck I could pick up 1 egg after cooking it for 10mins. I placed that onto the bowl and I recalled what Janice told me while blowing my hair. She said something about taking 20mins to cook a hard boil egg, so I picked it up with the chopsticks again (the egg was HOT) and I accidentally dropped it on the floor and it cracked ): it was only three quartered cooked.
Ate some of it and cont’d cooking my eggs till everyone woke up. Then mum told me I should have used the rice cooker so that I didn’t have to worry about the fire, water and whether if the eggs fully cooked or not. Ok, enough about my pathetic attempt to cook the eggs at 4.30am. So, I packed the rest of the stuff like a knife, tuna, tomato’s and the ice box with ice and headed out.

As usual, met YJ on the train at commonwealth and we took it all the way to Punggol station. Took random pics on the train cuz it was so BORING!

My first time there and I love their doors! It’s automatic. So cool (:

Kenneth was already there at 6.50am?! And he claimed it was a ghost town at that time. Haha. Janice was on the same train as us and we didn’t know. Karen was lucky enough to get her dad to drive her there. And Yong Sin was LATE! The shuttle bus was leaving at 7.45am and he reached exactly at that time. Luckily, Karen and Janice went to ask the bus uncle to wait while we ran to the bus.

It was an ulu ride to Marina Country Club and we reached there at almost 8am. Karen’s camera had only 1 battery inside so we tried hunting for shops but all of them were closed. While she was doing that, I started taking more pics :P

So, we went down to the pier to find Uncle James and the boat we were taking. Boarded the boat and off we went!
First, a video clip of our boat. Credits to Yi Juan who was took the vid (:

First things first, SUN BLOCK! So damn important. We put slabs after slabs of it onto ourselves to prevent any sunburn.

Then we headed to the front of the boat.

It felt real good sitting in front where the morning sea wind blew at us continuously with the morning sun shining at us! Really enjoyed the ride to the Kelong. Snapped lots of pics already.

Reached the Kelong to buy 1kg of prawn bait. The aunty there was nice enough to let us go in and take a look. Armed with a camera, I went to snap pics!

These were our live bait. Prawns a.k.a shrimp! Hahaha.

And I saw a LIVE CHICKEN!! In my whole life, this is the first time I’ve ever seen a live chicken!!

There was also a cute cat there.

Yes, there were lots of fishes too. But their boring.
Snapped pics here and there and went back on the boat.

Enjoyed the ride again, and taking advantage of the sun, I started self tanning (: (yes with sun block on, but I got dark in the end!) It was so nice lying down and the wind was blowing so strongly.
Reached some place in the middle of the sea, and we were really near Changi Airport! Airplanes literally flew pass our heads and it was real loud! Have u seen airplanes that close to u?! HAHA.

I took a video of how near the plane was to us!

There were also many of those things to reclaim our land! HAHA.
Started fishing, uncle only had 5 rods, so I was w/o a rod. Haha. Good thing though, cuz it was boring. Entertainment by taking pics and all.

Suddenly Kenneth said he saw something big swimming and coming onto the surface of the water. We thought he was kidding but he was damn sure bout it. Then, he asked us to wait and see. It came up for the second time and I missed it again! And finally, for the third time, I saw it! It was a turtle!! Kenneth’s real fascinated by it and talked about it the whole day.
The very first thing we caught, or rather the uncle caught was a.. Baby stingray!!

Can u believe it, there was no fish at all from 9am-1pm?! All hope was lost and we decided to head down to Pulau Ubin to have our lunch! Last thing happened was that Uncle James caught a eel! Everyone was ooh-ing and ahh-ing around! And PICTURES again! Haha.

Reached Pulau Ubin and walked around a little. It was my first time there, yes I know 17 years of living in Singapore and I haven't been to Pulau Ubin.

Bike rental was only $2 for the whole day! That’s freaking cheap, but sadly I don’t know how to ride a bicycle. Haha.
Settled down at some place and took out our packed lunch (: (save money!!) and it consisted of: bread, tuna, eggs, thousand island, tomato, lettuce, lemon cordial drink and sausages.

Started putting everything together till it looked like a sandwich (:

There was 2 pieces of bread left and some tuna and sausages, so we gave them to a stray cat and a 3 legged dog. Poor thing.
Saw a freaking huge grasshopper and I took a pic of it with Kenneth as my shield. Haha.

Snapped more pics and went back to our boat. There were signs that it was gonna rain! Oh no.

Went over to another spot to fish. Waited and waited and we started cam whoring again!!

We got a bit siao after doing nothing for so long.

...and Kenneth FINALLY caught a fish. A catfish; who's fins were poisonous.

Waited waited waited… … nothing at all. Started to drizzle a little. That’s bad. Then Uncle James decided to move on to another spot.
Next spot was beside another boat full of guys. I think there were 10 of them. And still nothing. Sigh. Then we saw them catch 1 fish! It was kinda big I think. Not fair. Everyone was whining and complaining. Hahaha.

That's their boat ):
Time was spent mostly snacking on maa mee noodle (I used to eat that a lot in pri sch) and wang wang biscuits. Of course, more cam whoring. Finally the rain stopped.
No fish again, so proceeded to another spot. It was a long drive there, and I was freezing COLD. We sat at the front of the boat and the cold wind and wet body's! You can imagine how freezing it was. And the ride was super LONG! We ended up near Malaysia and somewhere near OBS campsite. The water was very dark, but calm.
The fishes there had no teeth so we had to shell the live prawns. Yes, I can shell live prawns, but I killed them first by hitting them real hard. Haha.

Immediately, Yong Sin caught a fish!! Coolness.
Not long later, Kenneth caught another cat fish! Haha. No picture cuz we we were sianned of him catching fish. Haha, actually we didn't have enough time to get the cam out before the uncle put it back in the sea cuz it was poisonous.
Lots of bait was eaten by the fishes but we didn’t manage to catch the fish. Finally YJ caught a catfish! Haha.

Karen had a false alarm but it really seemed like there was this huge fish pulling on her rod!

Kenneth changed spots and went to the top to cast his rod, and he caught another fish! Zzz. Why the hell is he so lucky. Hahaha. That was the last fish for the day! 5 miserable fishes.

While waiting, we saw lots of jellyfish. There was this super HUGE one, but it was too far to snap a pic of it. So, we took a pic of this medium sized one. Better than nothing.

And there were tiny polka dotted jellyfish which swam horizontally. There were also super small crabs on leaves. Think their migrating. HAHA.

We stayed there till 6.30pm then headed back to the jetty. Cleared out our stuff and went back to the country club. Missed the shuttle bus by just a few secs. But is alright, that means more cam whoring!!

The shuttle bus took us to Seng Kang station and being so hungry already, all of us decided to eat dinner there. Went over to BK and we had student meal which costs $3.95, yes saving money again! Everyone ate so quickly. Walked around a lil more then decided to head home.
Reached home at 9pm and bathed. Dropped dead on my bed and slept with the lovely aircon! And I got more tanned. (((:
